Napoleon’s hat sold for record high 310 million yen

A hat believed to have belonged to the 19th century French emperor Napoleon I was put up for auction and sold for approximately 310 million yen.
Napoleon loved a felt hat with two horns called a bicorne hat, and his portraits and statues show him wearing this hat as his trademark.
It is said that Napoleon owned approximately 120 bicorne hats during his lifetime, but most of them are currently missing.
At an auction held in Paris on the 19th, a bicornered hat that belonged to a businessman who passed away last year was sold for approximately 310 million yen, more than double the expected price.
This is the highest price ever paid for a Napoleon’s hat sold at auction.
