The Berklee Marathon, which is known for its impossibly harsh conditions, was held in Tennessee again this year, and three male runners completed it.
It was the second time in the history of the marathon that three men had completed the race.

The Berklee Marathon was the brainchild of Garry Cantrell (nicknamed ”Lazarus Lake”) and is held annually at Tennessee’s Frozenhead State Park.
The course was inspired by the 1977 escape of James Earl Ray, the assassin of Martin Luther King.
同レースはそれぞれ約２０マイル（約３２キロ）の五つのループで構成されます
The race consists of five loops of approximately 20 miles (32 km) each.
The total length is about 160-200 km.
It is located in dense forest with elevation changes of approximately 63,000 feet (19.2 km).
Runners have to run without sleep for three days and three nights, and there are no aid stations or smartphones or GPS navigation.
Distresses, falls, and injuries in the mountains are not uncommon in this race.
