New 500-yen coin with two-color structure starts distribution today

The distribution of new 500-yen coins that adopted the latest anti-counterfeiting technology began today.
The 500-yen coin, which began to be distributed through financial institutions such as banks today, is the third generation since it was first issued in 1982, and will be the first design renewal in 21 years.
In order to prevent counterfeiting, a two-color structure with a yellowish tinge is adopted, and a feature is that small letters are added to the inside of the edge of the coin.
The design is almost the same as the current one
We are planning to issue 200 million coins this year, and it means that we can continue to use the second-generation 500-yen coins that are currently in circulation.
