They go from pure white to a golden pattern.
During the night, they display this pattern while they are dreaming.
It is said that there is a possibility that octopuses change color as a response to their dreaming.
Originally, octopuses change colors to protect their bodies when they are in danger and to prevent others to notice when they are eating.
