Ice cream Ben & Jerry’s withdraws from Israeli occupied Palestinian territory
米国のアイスクリームメーカー「ベン＆ジェリーズ」は１９日、イスラエルによるパレスチナ占領が同社の価値観に合わないとして、占領地からの撤退を表明しました
US ice cream maker Ben & Jerry’s announced on the 19th that Israel’s occupation of Palestine would not fit the company’s values and would withdraw from the occupied territories.
同社はこれまでも、米国内で警官による暴力や白人至上主義に抗議するなど、リベラル派の立場を発信してきました
The company has traditionally communicated its liberal position in the United States, protesting police violence and white supremacism.
１９８７年に進出したイスラエルでの販売活動をめぐっては、同国がパレスチナの占領地に入植地を建設する動きは国際法に反するなどとして、かねてリベラルな立場との矛盾を指摘する声が上がっていました
