76% of foreign children without nationality did not submit the necessary documents
The Immigration Bureau of Japan investigated why 305 foreign children who were born in Japan in the last five years and remained non-national have no nationality.
76% of 232 people did not have their parents or other officials issuing passports certifying their nationality or documents notifying them that their child was born.
63 found that they had to go back and submit documents to get nationality
For this reason, nearly 80% of 236 people were able to obtain nationality by April of this year by issuing missing documents or returning to the country once.
