62％の人ひとが「1か月げつに1冊さつも本ほんを読よまない」

62% of people do not read at least one book a month

文化庁ぶんかちょうは5年ねんに1回かい、本ほんを読よむ習慣しゅうかんについて調しらべています

The Agency for Cultural Affairs surveys people’s reading habits once every five years.

今年ことしは16歳さい以上いじょうの3559人にんが答こたえました

This year, 3,559 people aged 16 and over responded.

スマートフォンなどの画面がめんで読よむ本ほんも入いれて、1か月げつに何なん冊さつ本ほんを読よむか聞ききました

We asked them how many books they read in a month, including books they read on their smartphones or other screens.

「1冊さつも読よまない」と答こたえた人ひとが62.6％でした

62.6% of people answered that they did not read a single book.

5年ねん前まえと比くらべて15ポイント以上いじょう増ふえて、今いままででいちばん多おおくなりました

This is an increase of more than 15 points compared to 5 years ago, the highest increase ever.

本ほんを読よむ量りょうが少すくなくなっていると答こたえた人ひとは69%でした

69% of people say they are reading fewer books

本ほんを読よまない理由りゆうでいちばん多おおいのは、「スマートフォンやパソコンなどを使つかっていて、本ほんを読よむ時間じかんがない」でした

The most common reason for not reading books was ``I don’t have time to read books because I use my smartphone or computer.’’

次つぎに多おおいのは「仕事しごとや勉強べんきょうが忙いそがしい」でした

The next most common reason was ”busy with work or study.”

文化庁ぶんかちょうは「何なにをしたら、みんなが本ほんをもっと読よむようになるか、考かんがえます」と話はなしています

The Agency for Cultural Affairs says, ``We will think about what we can do to encourage people to read more books.’’

In every 5 years, Agency of Cultural Affair has checked the book reading habit.

今年ことしは16歳さい以上いじょうの3559人にんが答こたえました

This year, they got answers from 3559 people in the age of 16 and above

The question is: Including reading through smartphone or the screen, how many books did you read in one month

「1冊さつも読よまない」と答こたえた人ひとが62.6％でした

[Not reading even one book] is 62.6% of the answers

5年ねん前まえと比くらべて15ポイント以上いじょう増ふえて、今いままででいちばん多おおくなりました

Comparing with the answer from 5 years ago, 15 points is increased. This is become the highest number so far.

本ほんを読よまない理由りゆうでいちばん多おおいのは、「スマートフォンやパソコンなどを使つかっていて、本ほんを読よむ時間じかんがない」でした

[Using smartphone and computer,and not having time to read a book] is the reason that is the most answered.

次つぎに多おおいのは「仕事しごとや勉強べんきょうが忙いそがしい」でした

[Busy in work or study] is the second highest answer
