German Defense Minister Pistorius said on the 1st that it was necessary to urgently order new tanks following Germany’s decision to provide Ukraine with 14 Leopard 2 main battle tanks.
”The decisive factor for me is that we have to order a new tank,” Pistorius told reporters.
He expressed the view that it is necessary to plan when and how many Leopards can be obtained and to start production as soon as possible.
He also said that the source of the funds does not matter, the important thing is to deliver quickly
German Chancellor Scholz announced last week that the Leopard would be donated to Ukraine
Germany was under increasing pressure from the United States, Poland and others to increase military support for Ukraine.
