Balloons over Central and South America belong to China Chinese government

A Chinese foreign ministry spokesman said on Thursday that a balloon found over Central and South America belonged to the country and had been used for flight tests.

This is the first time that the Chinese government has recognized that the balloons found in the skies of two Latin American countries belonged to its own country.
At a regular press conference on June 6, spokesperson Mao Ning of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that the balloon had ”substantially deviated” from its planned course and ”accidentally” entered the airspace over Central and South America and the Caribbean Sea.
It was attributed to weather conditions and the limited ability to control the balloon itself.
This is the second balloon that the Chinese government claims has gone off course due to weather.
The US military shot down a balloon believed to be a Chinese reconnaissance balloon on the 4th.
The balloon flew over the continental United States for several days.
