Asaichi Street in Wajima: Work has begun to clean up burnt buildings

Many shops and houses were burnt down.

The city will pay to clean up more than 100 buildings that have been requested.
On the 5th, workers used heavy machinery to move burnt pillars and other items.
A member of a group at a store on Asaichi Street said, ``The scenery after the earthquake never changed, and we all thought it was hard.’’
A woman who had been running a sweets shop for over 40 years said, ``I cried a lot when my shop and house burned down.
I’m glad I’ve finally started cleaning up and moving forward.
I would like to open a shop here again.’’
