Indian businessman Adani overtakes Bezos as world’s second richest man

Indian tycoon Gautam Adani surpassed Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos to become the second richest person in the world in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
The current number one is Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla in the United States, with assets of $260 billion (approximately 37 trillion yen).
Adani was ranked 14th at the beginning of the year, but rose to number 2 in less than 10 months.
This is the first time an Asian has risen so high in Bloomberg’s list of billionaires
For many years, white IT entrepreneurs have dominated the top ranks.
Much of Mr. Adani’s $146.9 billion fortune is related to assets owned by the Adani Group, a giant conglomerate.
The group is involved in a wide range of businesses that have performed well in recent years, such as ports and coal.
Stock prices of some companies in the Adani Group have risen by more than 1000% since June 2020
Investors liked the company’s strengths in areas such as infrastructure and renewable energy, which Prime Minister Modi of India places emphasis on.
Shares of the group’s flagship company, Adani Enterprises, are also up more than 115% year-to-date.
In February of this year, Adani overtook Indian businessman Mukesh Ambani to become Asia’s richest person.
