About 50 years after the plan, the West Kyushu Shinkansen began operation
JR九州は23日、西九州新幹線の運転を始めました
JR Kyushu started operation of the West Kyushu Shinkansen on the 23rd.
It runs 66 km between Nagasaki Station and Takeo Onsen Station in Saga Prefecture.
It took about 50 years from the planning stage, and people in towns with stations where the Shinkansen passes were looking forward to it.
新幹線と特急を使うと、長崎駅から福岡県の博多駅までは30分早くなって、1時間20分ぐらいで行くことができます
If you use the Shinkansen and limited express, you can get from Nagasaki Station to Hakata Station in Fukuoka Prefecture in about 1 hour and 20 minutes, which is 30 minutes faster.
