Lawson enters the ”ghost restaurant” market specializing in home delivery

Lawson will start a service to cook and deliver products such as Chinese food ordered by home delivery service such as Uber sweets in the kitchen in the convenience store.
It is not sold as ”Lawson”, but rather utilizes the kitchen in the store as a cooking base, and it is a new business as a so-called ”ghost restaurant” specializing in home delivery that does not have a physical store.
By the end of August this year, we plan to launch 20 brands, including collaborations with famous restaurant chains, and develop 3 to 5 brands per store according to location and customer base.
First, the experiment will start at 5 stores in Tokyo by March, and it will be expanded to 1000 stores by 2025.
In the convenience store industry, while the domestic convenience store market has peaked, with Seven-Eleven entering the online home delivery business and FamilyMart launching the media business, each company is advancing into new businesses.
