Hanae Mori, world-famous designer, passes away
服のデザイナーの森英恵さんが今月11日、亡くなりました
Fashion designer Hanae Mori passed away on the 11th of this month.
She was 96 years old.
森さんは1926年に島根県で生まれました
Mori was born in Shimane Prefecture in 1926.
In 1965, the clothes that were first exhibited in New York, USA were recognized as wonderful by many people and became famous all over the world.
Ms. Mori introduced clothes to foreign countries that used traditional Japanese colors and patterns in their designs.
Many young Japanese women wore Mori’s clothes.
Mori designed uniforms for Japanese athletes at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
In 1996, she received a medal given to people who have made a significant contribution to Japanese culture.
In 1989 and 2002, she also received the prestigious French Order of Merit.
