カナダ北西部の大規模な山火事から車を走らせ、丸一日かけて避難した日本人がANNの取材に応じ、当時の状況を語りました。
A Japanese man who took a day to evacuate from a large wildfire in northwestern Canada gave an interview to ANN and told about the situation at that time.
「夜中、止まらないで走れる時は走ったので26時間ぐらいかかったと思います」
"I think it took me about 26 hours because I ran whenever I could without stopping during the night."
「仮眠は取られながらですか？3時間走って2時間うたた寝して」
"Did you take your naps while you run? Three hours running, two hours napping."
避難命令が出ているイエローナイフに住む嶋田幸一さんは、およそ1500キロ離れたエドモントンに日本時間の今朝に到着しました。
Koichi Shimada, a resident of Yellowknife, where an evacuation order has been issued, arrived in Edmonton, approximately 1,500 kilometers away, on this morning in Japan time.
給油には2時間かかったといいます。
He said it took two hours to refuel.
「町から310キロの所にガソリンスタンドがあって、そこを越えると別の町が燃えてダウンしていたりしていて何百キロ先でガソリンを入れられるか予測できなかった。ガソリンスタンドの1キロ以上前から並んでいました」
“There is a gas station 310 km from town, and further afield another town is on fire, so I can't predict how many hundred kilometers I will be able to fill up. We waited in line for more than 1km in front of the gas station.”
現地では、車で避難できない住民を軍用機で移送するなど退避が進んでいます。　
Residents who could not be evacuated by car are being evacuated by military aircraft.
