着工から140年以上経っても建設作業が続いているスペインの世界遺産、サグラダ・ファミリアのメインタワーが2026年に完成すると発表されました。
スペイン・バルセロナにある世界遺産、サグラダ・ファミリアは、ガウディが設計し、1882年に着工しましたが、今も建設中です。
3つのファサードと聖書の登場人物を象徴する18本の塔で構成されていて、2021年には「聖母マリアの塔」が完成しました。
今月に入ってサグラダ・ファミリアの建設評議会が報告会を開き、2025年に聖母被昇天の礼拝堂が完成し、
ガウディの没後100年にあたる2026年には、高さ172.5メートルあるメインタワー「イエス・キリストの塔」が完成すると発表しました。
その後は、3つのファサードのうち最後となる「栄光のファサード」などの建設に取り掛かり、全体が完成するのは10年後の2034年ごろと見込まれています。
