イギリス空軍は軍用機として世界で初めて、環境に配慮した新たな燃料だけを使った飛行に成功しました。
イギリス空軍は空中給油・輸送機「ボイジャー」が廃油などを原料とした二酸化炭素排出量の少ない航空燃料＝SAFだけを使用した試験飛行に成功したと発表しました。
SAFを100％使用した飛行は現役の軍用機として世界初だということです。
イギリス空軍は2040年までに温室効果ガスの排出量を「実質ゼロ」にする目標を掲げていて今回の成功は「重要な一里塚だ」としています。
SAFは日本の航空会社でも利用が進められているほか、岸田総理大臣がASEAN歴訪で搭乗した政府専用機にも初めて使われるなど、各国で使用する機会が広がっています。
