経産省は、「電力需給はこの夏も厳しい」として、電力会社に対し、休止している火力発電所の再稼働などを求めていく方針を示しました。

一方、東京以外のエリアでは予備率が8％を超えていることから、政府関係者は東京エリアだけを対象に節電を要請することも含めて検討しています。
