Tan-tan Noodles Without Soup!いや、 「 耳なし」 じゃよ。
No, it's "Without Ears".昔々...
Once upon a time...訂正しないのかね。
Not going to rectify it, huh?この日本を、 平家と源氏、
In Japan, Heike and Genji,二つに分けた源平の戦いというものがありました。
there was a war between those two known as the Genpei War.この壇ノ浦は、 平家滅亡の戦いが演じられた場所で、
This Dan-no-ura was the place of the battle where the Heike extermination played out,多くの平家一門が無念の死を遂げたのです。
and many Heike family met up with a sorrowful death.そして、 この平家の恨みを鎮めるために建てられたのが、 阿弥陀寺。
And the Amida Temple (amidaji) was built to assauge the resentment of the Heike.高齢になるときついのが脂身。

In the temple,一流の琵琶を弾き語る芳一という目の見えない青年が住んでいました。
there lived Houichi, a young man who couldn't see, playing the biwa superbly, telling tales.ある夜のこと、
On one night...芳一、 ちょっとうちに来て琵琶弾いてくれよ。
Houichi, come to my house for a bit and play the biwa for me.えっ、 こんな夜中にですか?
What? So late at night?島根のキーホルダーあげるからさ。

Huh? Because of a pork leg?着いた先は、 大きなお屋敷。
The place he arrived at was a large house.中には大勢の高貴な人々がいる様子。
It seemed like there were many distinguished people inside.芳一は、 平家滅亡を描いた平家物語の壇ノ浦の一節を歌い上げました。
Houichi sang for them a verse from the Heike story's Dan-no-ura, which portrayed the Heike destruction.すると、 どうでしょう。
And then what happened?あまりの音痴に、 みんな忍び笑い。
He was so tone-deaf, everybody stifled their laughter!いやいやいや、 泣いとるんじゃよ。
No, no, no, they're crying!芳一は、 たっぷりお礼をもらいました。
Houichi received a lot of compensation.ウホッホ!
Woohoo!そんな好きなのかね。
Does he like it that much?それからというもの、 夜な夜な出かける芳一。
Since then, Houichi goes out every night.寺の和尚は不審に思い、 後を付けてみると・・・
The temple monk grew suspicious, and when he tried following him...なっ、 これは!
What... This is?!そこは壇ノ浦の戦いで亡くなった平家一門の墓場。
That was the graveyard of the Heike clan that died in the battle of Dan-no-ura.芳一の周りには無数の鬼火が舞っています。
Countless will-o'-the-wisps were dancing around Houichi.平家の怨霊に騙されていたのかね?
So he was deceived by the restless spirits of Heike?しかも、 驚くことに芳一は・・・
And the surprising thing was that Houichi...えっ、 どうしたんじゃね?
What? What happened to him?足が痺れていました。
His legs were numb.どうでもいいじゃろう、 それ!
Who cares about that!このままでは怨霊に取り殺されてしまうわい。
At this rate, you'll be taken and killed by the restless spirits.和尚は、 怨霊から芳一の姿を見えなくするために、
To make Houichi invisible to the restless spirits, the monk全身に般若心経を書き付けました。
drew sutras all over his body.緊張感ないなあ。
No sense of urgency at all.真夜中になりました。
It became late night.すると再びあの武者が・・・
And then once again, that warrior...芳一!
Houichi!えっ、 耳だけ?
What? Just the ears?なんと和尚は、 耳だけお経を書き忘れていたのです。
Oh boy! The monk forgot to write sutras on just his ears!えー、 いかん、 しまった!
What? Oh no, this is bad!しょうがない、 耳だけでも持って帰ろう。
Can't be helped, I'll bring just the ears back then.武者は耳を引きちぎり始めました。
The warrior started to tear off his ears.痛たたた!
Ow ow ow!話進まんじゃろうが!
The story's not progressing!こうして耳を失くした芳一。
That's how Houichi lost his ears.以来、 人々は彼を耳なし芳一と呼ぶようになったそうです。
Apparently since then, people came to call him Houichi Without Ears.あー、 余程平家の人達は、 無念じゃったんじゃねえ。
Well, the Heike people must have been really resentful, huh?一つ疑問なんですけれど、 耳以外はすべて書いたんですかね?
One question: He wrote everywhere except the ears, right?あそことか。
Like, over there?余計な疑問を抱くんじゃないよ、 吉田君。
