ハチとシャコが、喉が乾いてたまらないので、お百姓の所へ水をもらいに行きました。
Being so thirsty for water, a bee and a pigeon went to the farm to get some.
「水を少しくれれば、その代わりにシャコはブドウ畑を耕しますし、
"If you give me some water, I, the pigeon, will plant a vineyard instead,
ハチは泥棒を刺して追い払ってあげましょう」
and that bee will sting thieves and chase them away. "
と、言うと、お百姓は、
Hearing those words, the farmer said:
「わしにはウシが２頭いて、奴らは何も約束しないのに何でもやってくれる。
"I have two cows and they're willing to do anything without promises.
だから、あんたたちに何かくれてやるよりも
So, rather than giving something to you
ウシたちに何かをやるほうがいいよ」
