West Japan Railway Company want to lower the ”deer coming to lick the railway” accidents
West Japan Railway Company’s train cars in places such as the mountainside of Shiga Prefecture have a rising problem regarding animal collision accidents.
Between September and November, there have already been 570 accidents, which is 1.3x the amount compared to last year.
According to West Japan Railway Company, within the animal collisions accidents, deer are most common.
This also causes the trains to be late.
They think the deer come for the important iron content, thus coming near the railway to lick them.
To this extent, they’e left iron-rich blocks nearby so the deer won’t have to approach the railway itself.
