China’s ByteDance denies selling TikTok, amid threat of ban in US

ByteDance, the parent company of China-based video sharing app TikTok, announced on the 25th that it has no plans to sell TikTok.
This is the company’s first public response since US President Biden signed a bill that could lead to a ban on TikTok in the US.

ByteDance said in a statement on the popular Mainland China news app ``Today’s News’’, which it owns, that ``reports in foreign media that ByteDance is seeking to sell TikTok are not true.’’
”We have no plans to sell TikTok,” he said.

This statement is a direct response to an article in the online media ”Information”
The article reported that ByteDance is exploring a scenario in which it could sell its U.S. business without an algorithm recommending videos to TikTok users.
