WHO estimates that the number of smokers will drop by 1.2 billion in 30 years, ``good progress’’
世界保健機関（WHO）は16日、世界中の15歳以上の喫煙者が2022年に12億4500万人おり、30年には12億人を下回るとの推計を発表した
On the 16th, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced an estimate that there will be 1.245 billion smokers around the world aged 15 and older in 2022, and that number will fall below 1.2 billion by 2030.
The number of people continues to decline from 1.362 billion in 2000.
The WHO praised ``good progress in tobacco control in recent years’’ and called on governments around the world to implement further regulations to improve public health.
