Haraldur Torleifsson, a senior director at Iceland-based Twitter, tweeted to Musk that he had been unable to access his computer for the past nine days.
Twitter reportedly laid off about 200 employees that day.
Mr. Tolleifson tweeted, ’The head of human resources can’t confirm if I’m an employee.’

After his exchange with Musk, Tolleifsson said in a Twitter post that Twitter Human Resources had confirmed that he had been fired.

Musk apologized on Twitter on Wednesday, saying he had misunderstood Lleifson’s situation.
”I would like to apologize to Hari for misunderstanding his situation.
It was based on what I was told, but not true, or in some cases true but meaningless.”
“I am considering continuing my work at Twitter,” Ruleifson said.
