Hot days pose a danger to lives: 123 people died in Tokyo in July

It is believed that 123 people died from heatstroke in July in Tokyo’s 23 wards.
79 of these people had air conditioners in their rooms, but they did not turn them on.
28 people did not have air conditioning in their rooms
In July of this year, more than 3,600 people suffered from heat stroke and were taken by ambulance.
The Tokyo Fire Department says to drink water before you get thirsty and to use air conditioning or a fan.
The number of elderly people dying from heatstroke in fields and rice fields is increasing.
On August 4th, a 90-year-old man was found dead in a field in Ehime Prefecture, and an 84-year-old woman was found dead in a rice field in Toyama Prefecture.
Experts say, ``When the temperature reaches the same level as your body temperature, your life is at risk.’’
