August 15 marked the 77th anniversary of the end of the Pacific War.
Government holds ceremony in Tokyo to pray for 3.1 million people killed in war
岸田総理大臣は「戦争はもうしません
Prime Minister Kishida said, ``We will not fight war anymore.
Conflicts continue in the world, but Japan will cooperate with other countries and do its best to resolve them.”
Afterwards, all those present silently prayed for the deceased for one minute.
The emperor said, ”I strongly hope that you will remember the past, reflect on it, and never fight another war.
Together with the people, we pray for those who died in war and for peace in the world.”

An 83-year-old man whose father died in the war said, ``War is not a long history, it’s still here.
I will continue to convey the sadness of war, in which ordinary citizens die, and the importance of peace.”
