There was a shortage of 1,732 students in elementary schools, 1,244 students in junior high schools, 433 students in high schools, and 473 students in special needs schools.
Compared to the 29 boards of education surveyed last year, the number of teachers missing increased by 36%.
According to a survey, there was a school where the vice principal took over as homeroom teacher for a while because there was a shortage of teachers.
In some schools, teachers suddenly quit and new teachers could not be found.
A member of the organization said, ``I’m surprised that the number of teachers we don’t have is increasing so much.’’
We need to urgently change the work environment for teachers.”
