NHKは今年8月から今月まで沖縄の伊良部島の海で、大学などと一緒にジュゴンがいるか調べました
From August to //this month, NHK conducted a survey of dugongs in the sea off Okinawa’s Irabu Island together with universities and others.
A microphone placed in the sea recorded the sounds that dugongs make when they eat grass.
However, this is the first time that dugong excrement has been found since the capture of dugongs in the 1960s.
Experts say, ``It is an important discovery for protecting dugongs that it is clear that dugongs are living.’’
