The EU = European Union has agreed in principle to introduce a ”border carbon tax” system that imposes customs duties when foreign companies export products that do not meet environmental protection standards to EU countries.
Products with high carbon emissions such as steel, cement, and aluminum are subject to the tax
If the ”border carbon tax” system is introduced, companies exporting these products to EU countries will be required to report the carbon dioxide emissions of their products.
The purpose of this system is to prevent damage to industries in EU countries caused by the export of cheap products from countries with lax environmental regulations.
On the other hand, the fact that the basic agreement has been reached has already disrupted supply chains around the world, and there are voices of discontent, especially from developing countries.
