Croatia begins adopting the euro and joins the Schengen Agreement.
欧州連合（ＥＵ）の行政執行機関、欧州委員会は７日までに、ＥＵの一員であるものの自国通貨クーナをこれまで使い続けてきた東欧クロアチアが欧州単一通貨ユーロの導入を開始したと発表しました
Implementation will start on January 1st, making it the 20th country to adopt the euro as a legal tender.
About 70% of ATMs in Croatia have started accepting euro banknotes and coins, and the remaining machines will obtain this possibility by the 15th of this month.
Kuna can be used until January 15th, but change will be received in euros.
The exchange rate was fixed at 7.53450 kuna to 1 euro.
Due to Croatia’s accession to the Schengen area, land and sea border inspections were abolished from the same day.
Travel by air will be free from March 26th this year.
The country will also be able to issue Schengen visas (entry visas).
