そこで私は市場データを分析して商品を考えました

So, I analyzed the market data before thinking of a product

そのとたん新しいことを何も思いつかなくなったんです

However, I was unable to think of anything new at that moment

出てくるのは何か似ているものばっかりだんだんとアイデアが出なくなり

My ideas were unoriginal. I wasn't getting any new ideas

考えることも嫌になって苦しくて

and I grew tired of thinking,

最終的にこんなに痩せてしまいました

It was so hard that I became this skinny.

皆さんも似たような気持ち経験があるんじゃないでしょうか

You've all probably had similar experience and felt this way too

上司が苦しいデータが苦しい考えるのが嫌になってしまった

Your boss was being difficult. The data was difficult. You became sick of thinking

今私はデータを捨てました

Now, I throw out the data

新しいおもちゃを作るのが夢なんです

My dream is to create new toys.

そして今代わりに

And now, instead of data

しりとりというゲームを使ってアイデアを考えています

I'm using a game called "shiritori" to come up with new ideas.

今日はこの発想法をご紹介したいと思います

I would like to introduce this method today.

しりとりとは

So, what is "shiritori"

りんごゴリララッパというように

Take apple, elephant, and trumpet, for example.

最後の文字を頭につけた言葉を順に言っていくゲームです

It is a game where you take turns saying words that start with the last letter of the previous word.

日本語も英語もだいたい一緒ですね

It is the same in Japanese and English.

このしりとりを自由にやっていきます

You can play "shiritori" as you like

ねこコーラライブブラシなどなど

Neko, kora, raibu, burashi, etc (cat, cola, connect, brush)

ランダムな言葉がたくさん出てきます

My random words will come out

その言葉を自分が考えたいものに

You force those words

むりやり結びつけてアイデアを出していくんです

to connect to what you want to think of and form ideas.

たとえば私の場合考えたいものはおもちゃなので

In my case, for example, since I want to think of toys

「猫のおもちゃ」って何だろう？

what could a toy cat be？

高いところから一回転して着地する猫のおもちゃ

A cat that lands after doing a somersault from a high place?

「コーラのおもちゃ」って何だろう？

How about a toy with cola？

コーラを銃で撃って相手をベタベタにするおもちゃ

A toy gun where you shoot cola and get someone soaking wet?

くだらないアイデアでいいんですどんどん出していきます

Ridiculous ideas are okay. The key is to keep them flowing.

そうするとアイデアを出せば出すほど

The more ideas you produce

いいアイデアも必ず出てきます

you're sure to come up with some good ones, too.

たとえばブラシ

A brush, for example

歯ブラシをおもちゃに出来ないか

Can we make a toothbrush into a toy?

たとえば歯ブラシとギターを合体させて

We could combine a toothbrush with a guitar and

ジャジャジャジャジャ

"Strum! Strum! Strum!"

磨きながら演奏が出来るおもちゃ

you've got a toy you can play with while brushing your teeth.

歯磨きがいやな子供が歯磨き好きにならないかな

Kids who don't like to brush their teeth might begin to like it.

帽子をおもちゃに出来ないかな

Can we make a hat into a toy?

ロシアン・ルーレットみたいに一人ずつこう帽子を被っていって

How about something like Russian Roulette where you try the hat on one bay one

誰かが被った瞬間に頭を突き破って

And then, when someone puts it on, a scary alien

凶暴なエイリアンが「ギャアァッ」と出てくる

breaks thrugh the top screaming "Aahh"

これホームパーティーとかで需要がないかと

I wonder if there would be a demand for this at parties?

データとにらめっこしていては

Ideas that didn't come out while you stare at the data

絶対出てこないアイデアがどんどん出てきます

will start to come out.

実際この梱包材の

Actually, this bubble wrap,

プチプチ ―壊れやすいものを包む―

which is used to pack fragile objects

これをおもちゃと結びつけて無限プチプチという

combined with a toy, made "Mugen Pop Pop"

この好きなだけ指でプチプチ出来るおもちゃ

A toy that you can pop the bubbles as much as you like.

生まれてこれ大ヒットしました

I was a big hit when it reached the stores

これはデータとまったく関係ありません

Data had nothing to do with its success.

これプチプチするだけなんですけど

Although it's only popping bubbles

すごくいい暇つぶしになるんで

but it's a great way to kill time,

今日一日会場の皆さんでまわして遊んでください

so please pass this around amongst yourselves today and play with it.

とにかくくだらないアイデアをどんどん出すんです

anyway, you continue to come up with useless ideas.

皆さんくだらないアイデアをたくさん出します

Think up may trivial ideas, everyone.

分析に基づいて狙うところが分かってしまうと

If you base your ideas on data analysis and know what you're aming for

そこを狙いすぎるあまり新しいことが出なくなります

you'll end up trying too hard and you can't produce new ideas.

そうではなくて狙うところが分かっていても

Even if you know what your aim is, think of ideas as freely as

目をつぶってダーツを投げるように

you were throwing darts

自由にアイデアを考えるんです

with your eyes closed.

そうすると必ず真ん中に近いところに当たります

If you do this, you surely will hit somewhere near the center.

一個ぐらいは

At least one will.

それを選ぶんです

That's the one you should choose.

そうするとそのアイデアは

If you do so, that idea will be in demand

ニーズがありかつ新しいアイデアになる

and, moreover, it will be brand new.

そういうやり方です

That is how I think of new ideas.

これはしりとりじゃなくてもいろんな方法が出来ます

It doesn't have to be "shiritori" because you have many other methods.

ランダムな言葉を集めればいいです

You just have to choose words at random.

辞書をぱらぱらとめくって言葉をランダムに集めたり

You can flip through a dictionary and choose words at random.

たとえば適当な２文字を検索して出てきた結果を拾ったり

For examole, you could look up two random letters and gather the results

お店に行って商品の名前を

or go to the store and connect product names

どんどん考えたいものに結びつけていくというやり方もありです

with what you wnat to think of.

ポイントは自分が考えたいジャンルの情報を集めるんではなく

The point is to gather random words, not information

ランダムな言葉を集めることです

from the category you're thinking for.

そうすることで頭の中に

If you do this, the ingredients

連想の材料がいろいろな連想の材料が集まって

for the association of ideas are collected

それが結びついてアイデアがどんどん出ます

and form connections that will produce may ideas.

この方法の最大の利点はイメージの連続性です

The greatest advantages to this method is the continuous flow of images.

言葉を順番に考えていくわけなので

Becuse you're thinking of one word after another,

前に考えていた言葉のイメージが残っているんですね

the image of the previous word is still with you.

それが勝手に後々結びついてくるんです

That image will automatically be related with future words.

無意識のうちにライブとブラシが結びつき

Unconsciously, a concert will be connected to a brush

ルーレットと帽子が結びつく

and a roulette will be connected to a hat

これ自分でも気づかないんですで思いもよらないアイデアが出てくる

You wouldn't even realize it. You can come up with ideas that you wouldn't have thought otherwise.

この方法はもちろんおもちゃだけでなく

This method is, of course, not just for toys

本やアプリイベント

You can collect ideas for books, apps, events

あらゆる企画の発想に役立ちます

and many other projects.

ぜひ皆さんに試していただきたいです
