Child seats in cars: ``For safety reasons, children over 6 years old should also use them.’’
福岡市で今月、バスと車の事故で、車に乗っていた7歳と5歳の子どもが亡くなりました
A 7-year-old and a 5-year-old child in the car died in a bus-car accident in Fukuoka this month.
The two were wearing seatbelts, but they were not using child seats or junior seats.
Police believe two people died after their seatbelts pressed hard on their stomachs when the car collided with them.

By law, a child seat must be used until the age of 5.
However, according to the Japan Automobile Federation, if a small child over the age of 6 wears a seatbelt, there is a risk that their neck or stomach will be pushed hard by the force of an accident.
The Japan Automobile Federation says, ``The correct way to use a seat belt is to place it around your hip bones.’’
Please make sure the belt does not hang around your neck or stomach.”
We also decided to require children shorter than 150cm to use child seats, even if they are 6 years old or older.
