Rice Grown in Niigata Prefecture Exported to Dubai in the Middle East
In Dubai and other areas in the Middle East, the number of people eating Japanese food for their health is increasing.
Japanese restaurants are also increasing.

Last year at an event for introducing various types of food in Dubai, a company in Niigata Prefecture introduced a type of rice from Niigata called “Koshihikari”.
At that time, trade companies in Dubai expressed interest in Koshihikari, and it was arranged for the rice to be exported to Dubai.
On the 17th, a Niigata Prefecture company filled 2000 bags of rice, where each bag weighs 5kg, and loaded them onto trucks.
The bags read “Niigata Koshihikari” in Arabic and English.

Much of Niigata Prefecture’s Koshihigari is exported to places like Hong Kong and Singapore, but until recently there were almost no exports to the Middle East.

Representatives from the Niigata company said, “Whatever the flavour of Koshihikari, people in Dubai want to be interested.”
