BMW strengthens partnership with Toyota on fuel cell vehicles; mass production of models to begin in 2028

Germany’s ”BMW” announced that it will strengthen its partnership with Toyota Motor Corporation in the field of fuel cell vehicles and jointly develop key components.
A fuel cell vehicle is a vehicle that uses hydrogen or other fuel as fuel, and because it does not emit carbon dioxide while driving, it is expected to be a technology for decarbonization.
BMW and Toyota will jointly develop a core component called a ”fuel cell system” that generates electricity through a chemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen.
BMW will begin producing cars equipped with this fuel cell system as mass-produced models in 2028.
Other parts, such as the hydrogen tank, will be developed in-house.
BMW has been partnering with Toyota for over 10 years in the field of fuel cell vehicles and is already supplied with some parts from Toyota.
