The Constitutional Court, which has been deliberating on whether the impeachment of South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol is justified, announced that it will deliver its decision on the 4th of this month.

Attention is focused on the Constitutional Courts decision on whether President Yoon, who has been suspended from duty, will be dismissed or will return to duty.

In South Korea, last December, a motion calling for the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol, who declared a state of emergency, was passed in the National Assembly, and the Constitutional Court has been deliberating whether the impeachment is justified.

<br><br>The Constitutional Court announced on the 1st that it will deliver its decision at 11 a.m. on the 4th of this month following the results of the hearing.

In the impeachment trial, which has seen 11 sessions of arguments since January this year, witness examinations and evidence investigations were conducted, with the main issue being whether the state of emergency constitutes a constitutional violation.

<br><br>The side of the parliament seeking impeachment argues that declaring martial law and dispatching the military to the parliament to attempt the arrest of members are actions that violate the constitution and democracy.

<br><br>On the other hand, President Yoon has emphasized his legitimacy by claiming that it was a state of emergency to correct the opposition-led parliamentary management and to investigate past election fraud allegations.

<br><br>If the Constitutional Court determines that the impeachment is justified, President Yoon, who has been suspended from duties, will be immediately removed from office, and a presidential election will be held within 60 days.

<br><br>Conversely, if the request for impeachment is dismissed on the grounds that it is not justified, the president will be reinstated, and the decision of the Constitutional Court will be closely watched.
