Honda's struggles in the Chinese market to make a comeback; efficiency improvements through AI use; first unveiled factory for EVs

　ホンダと中国ちゅうごく企業きぎょうの合弁ごうべん会社かいしゃ「広ひろ汽ホンダ」はEV（電気でんき自動車じどうしゃ）専用せんようの製造せいぞう工場こうじょうを報道陣ほうどうじんに初はつ公開こうかいしました

Gakki Honda, a joint venture between Honda and Chinese companies, has unveiled its manufacturing factory exclusively for EVs (electric vehicles) to the press for the first time.

若わかい中国人ちゅうごくじん技術ぎじゅつ者しゃを開発かいはつ者しゃに抜擢ばってき（ばってき）するなどし、EV化かが進すすむ中国ちゅうごく市場しじょうで巻まき返かえしを図はかる狙ねらいです

The aim is to make a comeback in the Chinese market, where EVs are becoming more popular, by selecting young Chinese engineers as developers.

Guangzhou city is home to many factories by Japanese automobile manufacturers and Japanese cars are popular.

　しかし、ここ数すう年ねんは中国ちゅうごく政府せいふのEV化か推進すいしんを背景はいけいとした中国ちゅうごくメーカーの躍進やくしんなどにより苦戦くせんが続つづいています

However, in recent years, there has been a continuing struggle due to the rise of Chinese manufacturers, which is the background to the Chinese government's promotion of EVs.

　そんななか、広ひろ汽ホンダは去年きょねん12月つきに稼働かどうを始はじめたEV専用せんようの製造せいぞう工場こうじょうを報道陣ほうどうじんに初はつ公開こうかいしました

Meanwhile, Guangqiao Honda opened its first publicity to the press with its EV manufacturing factory, which began operation last December.

　この工場こうじょうでは溶接ようせつ工程こうていでAI（人工じんこう知能ちのう）を活用かつようするなど107ある製造せいぞう工程こうていのうち28工程こうていを自動じどう化かし、従来じゅうらいの工場こうじょうと比くらべて約やく3割わりほど人員じんいんを削減さくげんしました

This factory automates 28 of the 107 manufacturing processes, including using AI (artificial intelligence) in the welding process, reducing the number of staff by about 30% compared to previous factories.

　効率こうりつ化かを図はかり、量産りょうさん体制たいせいを整備せいびすることでBYDをはじめとする中国ちゅうごく企業きぎょうに対抗たいこうする構かまえです

By improving efficiency and establishing a mass production system, we are planning to compete with Chinese companies such as BYD.

　一方いっぽう、この工場こうじょうで生産せいさんされる「イエ」シリーズは、ホンダとして初はじめて若わかい中国人ちゅうごくじん技術ぎじゅつ者しゃが設計せっけい段階だんかいから開発かいはつに携たずさわり、ホンダらしい「走はしり」は残のこしつつ中国ちゅうごく市場しじょうのニーズにも対応たいおうしたということです

On the other hand, the "Ye" series produced at this factory was the first Honda for young Chinese engineers to develop it from the design stage, and while still retaining the Honda-like "driving" it was also meeting the needs of the Chinese market.

Honda plans to launch 10 EV models in the Chinese market by 2027, and China Headquarters Igarashi Masayuki is aiming to make a comeback in the Chinese market, saying, "It will become an important base for promoting electrification."
