More than 43 tons of plastic waste was recovered from a marine sanctuary in the U.S. state of Hawaii. 　
廃棄された漁業用の網をダイバーらがサンゴ礁から切り離していきます。

ハワイのNPO団体はハワイ諸島北西の海洋保護区で27日間にわたり、海洋ごみの回収活動を行いました。　
A Hawaiian NPO conducted a 27-day marine debris recovery operation at a marine reserve northwest of the Hawaiian Islands.
回収したごみの重さは43トンを超え、そのうちの39トンほどは同じエリアにあった漁業用の網だったということです。　
The amount of garbage collected weighed more than 43 tons, of which about 39 tons were fishing nets in the same area.
漁業用の網は様々な生態系を支えるサンゴ礁を覆ってダメージを与えているほか、海洋生物に絡まり、けがをさせる恐れがあります。　
Fishing nets cover and damage coral reefs that support various ecosystems, and can carry and injure marine life.
NPO団体のトップは「手付かずの自然が残るこのエリアで、これだけのごみが見つかることは大きな問題だ」と指摘しています。
The head of the NPO pointed out, "It's a big deal to find this much trash in an area where nature is still untouched."
