過去にたばこを吸っていてその後禁煙した人は疾患を抱えている率が高いとして、常習的に喫煙を続けている人よりも新型コロナに感染した際に重症化する傾向があるとする研究結果が示されました。
東京・新宿区の国立国際医療研究センターでは、2020年1月以降にコロナで入院した2万9066人を対象に喫煙による重症化リスクを調べました。
その結果、過去に喫煙歴があり現在は禁煙している人の重症化リスクは、たばこを吸わない人よりも男性で1.5倍、女性で1.94倍だったほか、現在喫煙中の人よりも高かったということです。
国立国際医療研究センターは「過去に喫煙していた人は併存疾患を抱えている率が高く、禁煙しても疾患が残るため重症化しやすい」と分析しています。
このほか、オミクロン株について入院患者の半数が喉の痛みを訴えていて、特徴的な症状だということです。
