札幌市の円山動物園でアジアゾウの赤ちゃんが誕生しました。　
An Asian baby elephant was born at the Maruyama Zoo in Sapporo.
19日午後10時39分、円山動物園でアジアゾウの「パール」が出産し、赤ちゃんゾウが生まれました。
At 10:39 p.m on the 19th, "Pearl," an Asian elephant, gave birth to a baby elephant at Maruyama Zoo.
体重は90キロほどで性別は分かっていません。　
It weighs about 90 kg and the sex is not known.
今のところ母子ともに健康で、出産から1時間半後には授乳も始まったということです。　
So far, both mother and child are healthy and have started breastfeeding an hour and a half after delivery.
ゾウの出産で檻の中に飼育員が入らず自然に近い形で飼育する「準間接飼育」での出産は、日本で初めてです。　
This is the first time in Japan that elephants give birth in "quasi-interconnective breeding," in which keepers do not enter the cage to give birth to elephants, but keep the elephants in a form close to nature.
