雪を舞い上げながら白一色の滑走路に降り立ったのは、アメリカ・ボーイング社製の旅客機「ボーイング787」です。
ノルウェー極地研究所の特別便として研究者ら45人とともに12トンの物資を届けました。
CNNなどによりますと、ノルウェーの航空会社が運航していて、南アフリカのケープタウンから約5時間かけて南極大陸に到着したということです。
ノルウェー極地研究所は一度に沢山の物資を運べる大型機を使うことで「南極での二酸化炭素排出量と環境負荷を減らすのに役立つ」としています。
