猫がご飯の後で顔を洗う訳
むかしからネコは、ご飯を食べた後で顔や手をなめて洗います。
ふつうならご飯を食べる前に洗うのでしょうが、
なぜそうしないのでしょうか？
それには、こんなわけがあるのです。
むかしむかし、一羽のスズメが、お百姓のうら庭でムギ粒をつついていました。
草むらを行ったり来たりして、一粒ずつ食べています。
それを、お百姓の飼っているネコが見つけました。
これはいいごちそうとばかりに、ネコはスズメを捕まえて食べようとしました。
すると、
「まってください！ まってください！」
スズメは羽をバタバタさせて、叫びました。
「ネコさん、わたしを食べるつもりですか？」
「決まってるさ。
それがどうした？」
ネコはそう言うと、スズメの頭をかじろうとしました。
「ネコさん。あなたは、恥ずかしくないですか？」
「何がだ？」
「だって、顔を洗うのを忘れていますよ。
あなたのご主人たちはみんな、ご飯を食べる前に顔と手を洗うでしょう。
そのくらいの事、あなただって知ってるじゃありませんか」
「うむ。なるほど、
確かにそうだ」
ネコは顔を洗おうとして、スズメを押さえていた手をはなしました。
そのとたんスズメはつばさを広げて、さっと空へ飛んで行ってしまいました。
「ああ！
しまった！」
ネコは体がふるえるほど、くやしがりました。
「よし、
もうだまされないぞ。
人間は、人間の好きなようにやるさ。
おれは始めにご飯を食べて、あとで顔を洗うんだ」
それからネコは、ご飯の後で顔や手を洗う事にしたのです。
