JR東日本は大規模な地震に備えて、コンクリート製の電柱からより強固なものに建て替えるための専用車両を導入します。　
JR East will introduce a specialized vehicle for rebuilding concrete utility poles into sturdier ones in preparation for a large-scale earthquake.
3月の福島県沖地震では東北新幹線が脱線したほか、高架橋にあるコンクリート製の電柱約90本が損傷したり傾いたりしました。　
The March earthquake off the coast of Fukushima Prefecture derailed the Tohoku Shinkansen bullet train and damaged or tilted about 90 concrete utility poles on an elevated bridge.
JR東日本はこれまで地震対策として、電柱の上部と根元部分の補強をしてきましたが、今後は様々な方向からの力に強く耐震性が高い鋼管柱に建て替えていくということです。　
JR East has been reinforcing the top and base of the poles as a measure against earthquakes, but in the future they will be replaced with steel pipe poles that are resistant to forces from various directions and have high earthquake resistance.
JR東日本が公開した電柱建て替え用の車両は、線路上での作業が可能で道路使用許可などの事前の手続きがいらなくなり、スピードアップにつながるとしています。　
JR East has unveiled a vehicle for rebuilding utility poles, which it says can work on the tracks, eliminating the need for prior procedures such as road use permits and speeding up the process.
また、この車両のみで作業が完結できるので、より効率的なメンテナンスができるようになります。
