日本製鋼所は子会社が製造した火力発電のタービンに使われる部品の品質検査データを改ざんしていたことを明らかにしました。

不正検査を行っていたのは、日本製鋼所の子会社で北海道室蘭市にある「日本製鋼所M＆E」です。　
Fraud checks were carried out at "Japan Steel Works M&E" in Muroran city, Hokkaido, a subsidiary of Japan Steel Works.
火力発電所で使われるタービンなどの部品を製造する過程の品質検査で、顧客と約束した仕様から逸脱した検査データを書き換えていました。　
During the quality control of parts such as turbines used in thermal power plants, the company rewrote test data that deviated from the specifications promised to the customer.
書き換えは納期から遅れることを防ぐために過去の実績や経験に基づいて遅くとも1998年から継続的に行われていたということです。　
Rewrites have been carried out continuously, at the latest since 1998, based on past achievements and experiences to prevent delivery delays.
これまでに納入先から事故などの報告は入っていないとしていますが、日本製鋼所は「信頼を大きく損なう重大な行為で深くおわび申し上げます」とコメントしています。
Although no reports of accidents have been received from the delivery address to date, Japan Steel Works said: "We deeply apologize for the serious acts that greatly damaged the trust of our customers."
