天皇皇后両陛下は芸術分野で業績を上げた人に贈られる日本芸術院の授賞式に出席し、天皇陛下がお言葉を述べられました。
The Emperor and Empress attended the awards ceremony of the Japan Academy of Art, which is given to those for achievements in the field of art, and the Emperor gave a speech.
「今後とも人々が心豊かな生活を送り、活力ある社会を築くうえで、芸術文化が重要な役割を果たしていくことを心から願っております」　
“I sincerely hope that arts and culture will continue to play an important role in helping people live fulfilling lives and build a vibrant society.”
今年の日本芸術院賞には、建築家の隈研吾さんや小説家の桐野夏生さんら9人が選ばれました。　
Nine people were selected for this year's Japan Academy of Art Prize, including architect Kengo Kuma and novelist Natso Kirino.
式典の後、天皇皇后両陛下は特に業績が顕著として恩賜賞も受賞した隈研吾さんらからそれぞれが手掛けた作品について説明を受け、懇談されました。
After the ceremony, the Emperor and Empress received an explanation of their work and chatted with Kengo Kuma, who was awarded the Imperial Gift Award for his exceptionally outstanding performance.
