23日、架線を真っすぐ張るための装置が壊れ、東北・北陸・上越の各新幹線が一部区間で終日運転を見合わせました。

JR東日本は30日までに、新幹線の全区間でこの装置について目視による緊急点検を行いました。

ひび割れなどの異常は確認されませんでしたが、半数以上の251カ所で社内の交換目安である30年より長く装置が使われていました。　
No cracks or other abnormalities were identified, but at more than half of the 251 locations, the equipment had been in use longer than the in-house replacement guideline of 30 years.
JR東日本は再発防止策として、約440カ所で装置を部品が少なくメンテナンスしやすい別の装置に取り替えるということです。
As a measure to prevent recurrence, JR East is replacing the equipment at approximately 440 locations with other equipment that has fewer parts and is easier to maintain.
