農林水産省は今年、生産される主食用のコメが2008年以降、初めて700万トンを割り込む見通しを公表しました。　
The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries announced that this year, rice production is expected to fall below 7 million tons for the first time since 2008.
農水省は先ほど、今年の主食用のコメの作付面積が6月末時点の集計で、前の年より6万ヘクタール余り減るという見通しを示しました。　
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, by the end of June, the area planted to rice as the main food this year is expected to decrease by more than 60,000 hectares compared to the previous year.
平年並みの収穫状況であれば、生産量は694万トンから696万トンとなる見込みで、比較可能な2008年以降、初めて700万トン割れになります。　
Under normal harvest conditions, production is expected to be 6.94 million to 6.96 million tons, falling below 7 million tons for the first time since 2008.
食生活の多様化で需要が減っていることや、コロナ禍で外食での消費が縮小し飼料用のコメへの転作が強化されたことなどが要因です。　
This is due to a decrease in demand due to diversification of eating habits, a decrease in eating out consumption due to the corona virus leading to an increase in conversion to rice as food.
1人あたりのコメ消費量は1962年度がピークで、2019年度は一日に茶わん2杯強に減っています。
