日銀は研究を進めているデジタル通貨「デジタル円」について、4月から発行の前段階にあたる実証実験を民間の金融機関などと行うと発表しました。

デジタル通貨はスマートフォンやICカードなどで手軽にお金のやり取りができ、決済コストも抑えられることから各国の中央銀行で研究が進んでいます。

日銀は、おととしからデジタル円の発行や流通に必要な技術と機能を検証して来ましたが、

4月からは発行することになった場合に備え、金融機関や携帯電話事業者などを念頭に端末間で円滑にやり取りができるかなど具体的なシステム作りや検証を行います。

実験は2年以上行われる見通しで、現時点では消費者や店舗が実験に参加することは想定していないということです。
